Teresa says it all comes down to this:
The history buff in the family will enjoy this one! The Lee family farmhouse dates back to 1802 and all the original barns are beautifully painted and still in use. In fact, the Lee Family has farmed the same land for six generations, since 1868. More recent additions to the 54 acres are the playground, a farm gift stand, and a produce market (in case you don’t pick enough strawberries on your own.) The name, Lee Turkey Farm, derives from their raising of 5,000 turkeys annuallyâ€"and you thought three kids and a hamster were tough.

10:01 a.m. Mama woke up, helped me with the last of the strawberries, fed the children another fruit snack--this time, lychee and longan in syrup previously frozen in cans then slightly defrosted and eaten like a slushie--and took over while I come upstairs for some air and space. Whew. Later on the schedule today: making homemade ice cream in our new rolly ball and then eating it with our pie, hamburgers and fries, ramen salad, bean salad, and whatever else we pull out for lunch; then, s'mores--over our brand new fire pit (THANK YOU so much for the wedding present, Cousin S; a note is on the way soon!)--and sparklers, maybe some fireworks on tv (I'm taping Macy's in NY and Boston Pops tonight but Capitol 4th is coming on this afternoon). Double whew.

Let me give another point of view on the Disaster at the Amphitheatre: I had two interests for this event. See the people prepare the food live instead of seeing them on the TV and eat the good food that I've heard about onTV and in the advertisements for this event. The entertainment: the Food Network people I saw were funny, entertaining and trying to keep everyone in good spirits, even though, they could see blood in a lot of eyes. Bobby Flay and Guy Fieri were especially good with the crowds. A real bright side for this event. Thanks Food Network people. That was the positive. Now I think it's time to complain, moan and groan about things too. I got there at a few minutes to noon. This was when the event was supposed to start. I was directed to get in the line because that was where general admission ticket holders were supposed to go. I didn't know the Amphitheatre grounds were so large until I reached the end of the line. It too k another hour to get back to the front gate. Then they strapped us into the wrist bands. Staff people didn't explain anything about it except to say not to take it off. I then saw lines of people. Many lines of people. So many lines of people that all I saw was a gaggle of people. I tried to use the wrist band at a vendor-it didn't work. The worker said there wasn't enough money on the band.
